Ingenious stone carvings! The original ecological city! Originated from the persistent belief of Quanzhou Huian Chongwu people for generations~
What is your impression of Quanzhou Huian? Is it the Hui’an woman who is rushing to the sea? Or superb stone carvings?
Before walking into the ancient city of Chongwu, I knew very little about Hui’an, and I mistakenly thought that the ancient city of Chongwu, like those commercial attractions, has many shops serving tourists. In fact, the characteristic of Chongwu is that it preserves the original ecology of the ancient city to the greatest extent. Everything you see after entering the city is the real life of the local residents.
The ancient city of Chongwu is rich in natural landscape and human history, and has strong local characteristics.
The majestic and majestic stone city of Ming Dynasty, the unique costumes of Hui women, the simple and bold folk customs, the magical and psychedelic blue sea and golden sand, and the ingenious stone carving treasures attract friends from all over the world to come here.
Before visiting, I learned about the history of Chongwu. During the Song and Yuan Dynasties, Quanzhou Port gradually became as famous as Alexandria Port, and was called “the largest port in the East”. Later, due to the frequent activities of pirates in the surrounding area, the security of the Quanzhou Huian area was threatened. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Chongwu was affiliated to Yongningwei, Fujian, and played an important role in military defense due to its geographical location where it is easy to defend and difficult to attack.
After more than 600 years of war, the coastal guard castles in other areas have collapsed and annihilated, but the ancient city of Chongwu is still standing on the southeast coast intact, becoming a precious heritage of my country’s military architecture research.
Today, the ancient city of Chongwu is divided into two parts. One part is the “China Stone Carving Craft Expo City”, which is the Chongwu Ancient City Scenic Area. It is also a national AAAA-level tourist attraction integrating coastal scenery, historical relics, folk customs and sculpture art. , known as “Natural Studio” and “Southern Beidaihe”.
With respect for the art of stone carvings, I visited along the coastline. There are character stories and auspicious symbols representing the essence of Chinese culture on the beach and among the trees.
From the vivid images one by one, we can see the skilled craftsmen’s skills, as well as the infinite creativity that has been constantly improving since ancient times.
The artistic style of Chongwu stone carving is different from the boldness and boldness of Saibei, and it is not as simple and elegant as Jiangnan.
Along the way, I have been constantly moved by these ingenious stone sculptures, the hard-working and virtuous “Hui Nu”, “Water Margin”, “Dream of Red Mansions”, “Twenty-Four Filial Piety”, and the monument “Black Cat and White Cat” built for a famous saying… …
Another part of the ancient city of Chongwu(Quanzhou Huian) is the “Stone Ancient City” where the local villagers live, and there is no need for tickets to enter the city. In the ancient city, there is a temple just a few steps away. It can be said that “there is a god within three feet of your head”. Not only every family will go to the temple to offer incense on the 15th day of the new year, but also keep in mind the birthdays of various gods every month.
Mainly because for hundreds of years, generations of soldiers and civilians in the ancient city have experienced the baptism of blood and fire with natural barriers and solid stone cities. The Hulong Palace, Chongshan Palace, Chongbao Temple, Wuci Palace, Twelve Lords Palace, etc., were built by the soldiers and civilians of the ancient city to commemorate the heroes who sacrificed their lives to resist the Japanese.
There are five city gates in the ancient city. In addition to the four “gates”, the most distinctive one is the “Shuiguan Gate”, which is 2.1 meters high and 1.3 meters wide.
When an electric car passes by, it is full, and two people pass side by side carefully. It is said that this is also the smallest city gate among the seven existing ancient cities in my country.
Chaole Village is located from Shuiguan Gate. Chaole Shuiguan is the first place where people settled on the Chongwu Peninsula. Most of the historical and cultural sites in the ancient city are concentrated in Chaole. Eyes,” and it’s no exaggeration.
The ancients set up water gates, and the main function was to drain and discharge floods. In Feng Shui, the water gates can also “close the water”, which has made Chongwu a prosperous city since its founding.
During the Ming and Qing dynasties, Chongwu talents came out in large numbers. Lu Binxi, the servant of the Ministry of Rites during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, was a native of Chongwu. The former residences of Huang Wuye, a famous poet and painter, and Mr. Tu Qubing, a famous doctor from Fujian, are also located in Chaole Village.
There is also a diplomatic story of “sending a warship to Ryukyu for friendship”, which proves Quanzhou’s historical status as a major shipbuilding base on the Maritime Silk Road.
There are many historical sites in Chaole Village. Lin Zucuo, Hehe Pavilion, Xiushan Tower and Lin Guangji all belong to the Hou Bolin Ancestral House. Today, the Hou Bolin family has lived in Chaole Village for more than 600 years and is a big family with deep roots. On the eve of liberation, Hou Bolin Zucuo Group also became an important activity base of the CCP underground party in Chongwu.
There are also many folklore in Chaole Shuiguan, and there are touching stories of Sakai, feeding Hupu, Yongquan and Qianlong well. Unexpectedly, there are more than 30 historical and cultural sites gathered in the small water gate. It is very fun to walk around like a treasure hunt.
At present, the villages in the “Stone Ancient City” Quanzhou Huian still maintain their original appearance, and there are not many commercial transformations. As an ancient military port with a charming coastline and a long history, Chongwu exudes its own unique charm through these fascinating literary and artistic landscapes.
